Helping People... To Help Themselves
Major environmental challenges facing society include **climate change, hazardous substances and loss of biodiversity**. YRA facilitates the development of knowledge and technology for restructuring towards **sustainability, climate change adaptation & mitigation, environment-friendly energy** and long-term preservation of well-functioning ecosystems.
The mitigation and adaptation in rural and tribal areas where natural resources are ample but depleting day by day, is possible if people understand the importance. People in these areas are living with natural resources like forest, tree coverage, water, soil, wind and wild animals etc and can relate with those if educated from scientific and technical point of view.
They are the one who are facing problems as an outcome of **Climate change**. People's engagement and cooperation and convergence of government policies and programs will enhance the process of mitigation and adaptation. Also local people's mechanisms will help towards sustainability addressing issues and problems out of climate change. Along with environmental benefits people will get economic benefits too, those may be replicated elsewhere.
Our mission is to provide **leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment** by inspiring, informing, and enabling peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
Our work includes assessing global, regional and national environmental conditions and trends; developing international and national environmental instruments; and strengthening institutions for the wise management of the environment.
We categorize our work into broad thematic areas: **climate change, ecosystem management, environmental governance, soil and water conservation, chemicals and waste & resource efficiency**. In all of our work, we maintain our overarching commitment to **sustainability**.
