Soil & Water Conservation

To arrest **soil erosion** and **rainwater area** and **drainage line treatment** are necessary, but farmers in Vidarbha do not practice this. **Farm Banding, Farm Pond, Recharge Pits, Well deepening camp; Diversion bund** will be proposed for sustainable agriculture, which is very important. It helps increase yield due to fertile soil and water percolation.

Handpump Filtration Units

During the survey, YRA realised that many families in the village still drink **handpump water**. From the study, it was found that the water of the hand pump was not fit to drink, then this initiative was implemented to make the hand pump's water pure, clean, and drinkable.

There are still families in rural areas that drink the water of the handpump, and many handpumps are bad. There is a lot of **silt in the water**. The initiative has been implemented to ensure that such villagers get pure and **self-sufficient water** under a hand pump. In the absence of purified water in rural areas, many diseases are seen, and the villagers' money is spent on illness to the doctor. The initiative has been implemented to **reduce villagers' cost conditions** and keep their health healthy.

Due to our initiative, Earlier, the water in the handpump was very **alkaline**, and the colour of the water was **red**. The water was foul and unclean, but after the filtering, the water started to come clean.

Roof Water Harvesting

YRA took the initiative to help raise the **water level in the ground** by draining the rainwater from the roof of the village's public building and the water level on the land.

Recharge Pits

YRA developed recharge pits on an open space considering the topography and rainwater catchment, as well as the flow of percolated groundwater in the proposed project villages. YRA has vast experiences and evidence of an increased **groundwater level** through Recharge Pits. The rainwater falling in the village should be drained in the village itself, which will help the valley and handpump to increase the water level, the **soil erosion** will remain intact, and **drought-prone conditions** will not arise.
